The trailer for this film does it no justice! I was not planning on watching this film on opening weekend, due to the fact that it seemed as if it was going to be a long dramatic love story. Luckily I scored some tickets for a screening of the film and let me tell you it is just PERFECT! The movie is a beautiful story about a young motivated Irish immigrant girl who feels there is more to life than the little village where she was raised. Therefore she takes the chance to find a better life for herself in Brooklyn. Eilis, played by Saoirse Ronan, finds love with a young fella in America and due to certain circumstances, she has to return to her homeland. Once she returns home she is surrounded by loved ones, finds a job, and remembers the beauty of her small Irish village and is faced with the decision of staying or returning to Brooklyn. The film is very relatable and it will make you go through every emotion. You will see how Eilis struggles to make decisions such as where to live and work while trying to accommodate new-found love, family, and friends. Surprisingly there was a lot of comedy throughout the film that I really enjoyed. This movie was an unexpected HIT and I hope you give it the chance which it deserves!
